For parents
A game for children should be simple and safe. Here is exactly what is in it, and what isn’t.
What the game doesn’t have
- No chat, and no way to talk to strangers.
- No ads.
- No in-game purchases. A new creature only comes from a real capsule, and a Bumiko never asks you to buy anything.
- No sign-up, password or email.
- No pressure to come back. A day without playing loses nothing.
What is stored on the server
So that a creature bought with real money isn’t lost with the phone, progress is stored on the server:
- Family: a random ID, with no personal details.
- Each child: a nickname, a picture from a fixed list, their creatures and progress. Pick a nickname rather than a full name.
- Codes: which code was used, and when. The code itself is stored encrypted.
Not stored: full name, age, email, phone number or location. The full details are in the privacy policy.
Several children on one phone
Every child has a world and a collection of their own, even when siblings share a phone. A creature that woke up for one child belongs to that child.
The parents’ area
The game has a parents’ area, with a small question at the door so a child doesn’t wander in by accident. The family code, restoring and deleting everything are there.
A new phone, or the game was deleted
- You deleted the game and installed it again: usually everything comes back by itself, because the iPhone remembers the family. That isn’t guaranteed, so keep the family code.
- A new phone: type the 12-character family code in the parents’ area, and every child and creature comes back.
- Both the code and the phone are lost: write to us, and come to the store with the notes.
Deleting everything
In the parents’ area you can delete the family, every child and every save from the server. Codes that were already used stay “in use”, so deleting doesn’t open them again.
